The Most Common Tesla Protection Package — and Why It Makes Sense

Tesla Model 3 owners are some of our most frequent customers at Tint Citi Utah. The Model 3 has a large glass roof, a panoramic windshield, and a front end that sits low to the road — all of which create specific protection needs that the factory doesn't address. This case study covers the most common protection package we install on Model 3s.

The package: ceramic window tint on all glass (including the glass roof) plus full front-end PPF. This combination addresses the two biggest vulnerabilities of the Model 3 — solar heat gain through the large glass surfaces, and rock chips on the front bumper and hood from highway driving.

The Model 3's glass roof is one of the most common reasons Tesla owners come to us. The factory glass has some UV protection built in, but it does very little for infrared heat. On a Utah summer day, the cabin temperature under that glass roof can be brutal. Ceramic window film on the roof glass rejects up to 60% of solar heat — the difference in cabin comfort is immediately noticeable.

Film installed: Ceramic Pro KAVACA ceramic window film at 50% VLT on the front side windows (Utah legal), 35% VLT on the rear side windows and back glass, and 50% VLT on the glass roof. The 50% VLT on the roof maintains good visibility through the glass while still providing significant heat rejection. The owner specifically chose ceramic film over carbon film because of the heat performance difference.

For the PPF, we installed KAVACA Ultimate PPF on the full hood, full front bumper, and both front fenders. This is the most common front-end package for Model 3s — it covers the panels that take the most highway debris impact. The Model 3's front bumper has a low air intake that's particularly vulnerable to rock chips; PPF is the only product that physically stops chips before they reach the paint.

One important note for Tesla owners: ceramic window film does not interfere with the Model 3's cameras, sensors, or Autopilot system. We've installed ceramic tint on hundreds of Teslas without any sensor issues. The film goes on the glass only — not over the camera housings or sensor areas.

Total installation time: one day. The owner dropped off the car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon.
